Twisting Tradition

Turning away from tradition can bring unique flair to your wedding day. So many brides feel that they have to follow a traditional timeline, but in reality it’s your day and you can do whatever you want! We have some fun new ideas for you to consider to helpmake your wedding day memorable and really stick out compared to the average wedding you have attended. We always remind our brides that you get one day to do whatever you want, so make your wedding fun for everyone and and a representation of your style, not the style everyone feels they have to follow.

~ The First Look ~ This is something that more modern brides are really turning to for several reasons. One huge reason is it really saves a lot of time on pictures and can actually give you a chance to make it to your cocktail hour. Every bride and groom wants to make it to their cocktail hour, but of course have to make sure they take enough time to get all the photos they want. Before the ceremony the groom can be blindfolded or whatever fun way you desire. You will still get that first look expression from the groom that everyone loves, but can share it in a more intimate setting and get those pictures beforehand as the excited soon to be Mr. & Mrs.

~ Pre-Ceremony Cocktail Hour ~ Why not have the cocktail hour before the actual ceremony? This will get your guests there on time, mingling, and will make the ceremony that much more enjoyable! Your guests will be relaxed and it’s a fun twist on tradition.

~ Putting Together The Puzzle Pieces ~ A fun guest book idea is to have wooden puzzle pieces at each place setting and have your guests write on the puzzle a little message to in place of that traditional guest book. They can put the pieces together at the table and this will lead to some interaction at the table and get them more comfortable with each other. Not to mention, you can frame this later and it will make for some pretty cool and different decor pieces in your new home!

~ Comfort Food ~ No one ever said you had to have a fancy three or four course meal at your reception, it’s just what we think is expected. Suprise your guests with mini burgers and fries, food trucks, or be very Charleston with a Low Country Boil. This will be a big hit with your guests and will bring some comfort and relaxation to your wedding and take away the stuffiness of a full course plated dinner.

~ Everybody Jump Jump ~ You can bring in some super fun activities like a jumpy castle, have a temporary tattoo booth, or even have a bunch of props like moustaches laying around for your guests to get into. How could you not have fun at a reception like that?

~ Mimosa Madness ~ Morning weddings can not only save you a ton of money but can totally take some of the traditional aspects out of your big day. Waking up and getting the party started right off that bat instead of waiting around all day for the festivities can also bring some convenience to your guests. Greet your guests with mimosas and iced coffee and hand out sunglasses for favors. Not only would your pictures be completely unique but you get the opportunity to start everybody’s day off on the right foot!
