Lindsey + Kenan, Boone Hall Plantation, Featured on The Wedding Row

We are so excited to share one of our all time favorite couples and we can’t wait to show you how they brought their fabulous LA style to Charleston.

I will go ahead and let our bride, Lindsey, share the details of her wedding day since she did it best!

“Kenan and I went for an old Hollywood 1920s/30s glam meets rustic southern charm theme for the wedding. We had to bring in the old Hollywood glam ourselves but the rustic southern charm was already there at Boone Hall Plantation. As you entered the Cotton Dock rich burgundy and gold damask draped framed the barn doors. Inside, crystal chandeliers and deep hues of navy and burgundy with a touch of gold really brought our theme to life. We kept the theme going with each table being named after a famous icon of the 1920s and 1930s era. Alternating centerpieces of wine and whiskey bottles (a nod to prohibition) with tapered candles and lush florals with cotton and succulents kept with the theme as well. Our signature drinks that we offered were a Blackberry Gin Fizz titled “Keeping up with the Jones’ ” and an sweet tea vodka with lemonade called a “Sweet Southern Palmer.” We also chose to have Pie instead of a traditional wedding cake. Being that we both aren’t fans of cake we went for pecan, mud and apple pie. It was only by coincidence that it happened to be National Pie Day as well! We kicked off the champagne toasts with a champagne tower and danced the night away to music from each decade. Being music lovers we wanted a variety. We ended the night with a sparkler send off and hopped into a gorgeous white vintage Bentley. Everything exceeded our expectations! Especially our wedding planners Kate and Sabine at Fabulous Fete.  Without them we couldn’t have done it!”

Thanks again for letting us be a part of your day – we adore you both and wish you a life time of love and happiness! Also, a big thanks to the amazing vendors that we worked with, including Studio Mynt, who couldn’t have done a better job capturing such an amazing day! Don’t forget to check out their entire wedding gallery as well as the feature on The Wedding Row!

Sequin Stunners

Winter weddings are a perfect excuse for some serious glitz, and these chilly temperatures are making us think BLING!

It’s no secret that we have a love for metallic textures and sparkle. There is something about metallic and sequins, where we feel like it’s the perfect amount of sparkle that can make a wedding look stunning without looking tacky.

CZs can look cheap or overdone at times but there is nothing fake about metallics and/or sequins, they are what they are, and they do the perfect job of catching your eye.

A touch of this metallic madness can really be complimentary to any bride and almost any wedding colors you are working with. We know you have seen our Plum Perfection Photos but we wanted to send more sequin stunners your way.  Enjoy!

Transportation and Planning your Exit

Transportation always poses a lot of questions for couples when planning their wedding. Should you provide transportation for your guests and what would be a fun option for you to arrive in and depart in on your wedding day? Transportation for your guests is a luxury and something that they are sure to appreciate, especially if you are planning a destination wedding or if your ceremony and reception are in two different locations. However, you must remember that no one expects you to provide them with this, but they appreciate the gesture if it falls within your planned budget.

In terms of your transportation, this is certainly a must. The last thing that you want to worry about is transportation and you want to make sure that it is comfortable and you can even have a lot of fun with planning your exit in a fun mode of transportation. We are here to help you explore all of those options and we can certainly tell you that there are tons of fun options in Charleston! We love it when couples have fun with their exit and it really makes for some great photographs that can capture the essence of the whole night and a wonderful ending to the evening.

Check out our pinterest board to see some alternative exits and contact us to learn more about your transportation options and how to plan for a fabulous exit or consider contacting one of the great transportation companies in the area to help get you started right now!

5 Wedding Details Brides Might Not Think About

Are you a seasoned wedding guest veteran?  Do you ever notice little things that could of been better or avoided at a wedding?  We have seen it all, and by planning our brides’ weddings we make sure these details are thought of and taken care of so there are no hiccups the day of.

1.  Photographer needs a seat too! Remember that your photographer typically stays with you most of the day, from hair/makeup all the way ’til the final exit in the Rolls or the last coupe de champagne has been drunk.

Keep in mind that if you are traveling from a ceremony site to your reception with your bridal party, you will want your photographer with you, so when planning a limo or other transportation include them in your numbers.  Believe us, you will want those great pictures on the trolley.

2.  The headless guest.  Either when you are discussing centerpieces with your decor designer or florist, or once they have some mock ups for you to review, remember to make sure guests are able to see the other guests across the table from them.  There is nothing worse than being seated at a table with family and friends you can’t wait to catch up with and you can’t see their head across the table.

3.  Dress bustling stopwatch.  Decide early on at what point during your day you will want your dress bustled.  Then, depending on how intricate your dress is, you may have to enlist more than one bridesmaid to help you.  Make sure they are aware they will be helping you in case you see them veering to the bar for their second vodka tonic, looking for those tiny hooks requires some sobriety. If your dress is really detailed – like 6 layers of lace – it could take up to 15 minutes to get your dress bustled.  Keep that in mind when planning your wedding timeline!

4.  Vendor meal insight.  Take a close look when signing your vendor contracts, especially your entertainers and your photographer.  They may require a meal while working your wedding and if you are having a $100/plate dinner these could add up quick.  Remember to clarify any of the vendor requests before signing anything so you are prepared.  You can also contact your caterer to ask about less expensive meal options for them.  Also have a discussion with the vendors about when they typically take their meal, for the photographer it should be while guests are eating but not during speeches.  Band/DJ should be before the intros and entertainment begin, but after they set up.

5.  The fainting bridesmaid.  Feed your girls.  They have most likely been dieting just like you and the day of your wedding isn’t the day for a handful of grapes to sustain the walk down and back up that aisle.  Have wraps, salads, fruit, cheese – anything you want – for your bridesmaids (and you!!) to eat while you are all getting ready.
